When developing this project Amber was drawn to where the new building for Alrek Helseklynge was situated, surrounded by residential houses. This new building would be the daily view of those living near by, or those who walk past daily to walk or drive to work- how could they be included in the collaboration at the centre of Alrek’s ideology?
In September 2020, 250 letters were printed at the local artist publishing group, Pamflett, located just down the road on Møllendalsveien. They were printed using a risograph, a type of automated silk screen printing, and were hand delivered to 250 post boxes of houses neighbouring Alrek. The letter introduced the project and the trees and invited neighbours to sign up for the next gardening workshop. A number of neighbours got in touch via email to express their interest- and some have since joined in with caring for the trees.
In December 2021, after a series of corona lock downs, a second letter was sent to the neighbours to keep them updated on what had taken place over the last year and half with the trees and to encourage more neighbours to take part.
